Professor McCoy dies. The collections of the National Museum are transferred
from Melbourne University to the building in Swanston Street. The Mineralogy
collections of the Industrial and Technological Museum are transferred
to the National Museum, and other collections are put into storage or
sold.

Museum on the move, 1899 style! Transferring the collections from
the University of Melbourne to a large brick building at the rear
of the Public Library in Swanston Street,which was later called
McCoy Hall.
