The Melbourne Story exhibition opened in March 2008 and contains over 1,200 objects exploring Melbourne’s rich social, cultural and physical history, from contact with Indigenous people to the present day.
What jobs are associated with particular eras in our city’s past? How does work impact on the environment? How is employment influenced by technology? Students work in groups with materials found in a worker’s bag from key time periods of the exhibition.
This hands on, interactive session provides students with the opportunity to observe and interact with material relating to work for men women and children in the history of Melbourne.
