Take a journey to the stars and beyond in the Melbourne Planetarium. Guests will be enthralled by the experience as they sit back and watch the night sky unfold on the dome high above. The Planetarium’s computer system has the capacity to produce 3D simulations that will take you on an amazing voyage and discovery of the Universe. The Planetarium is fitted with a 160 seat theatre with reclining seating and boasts a 16 metre horizontal dome.
The Planetarium’s installation of a completely digital, full-dome video projection system blankets the hemispherical dome with a single seamless, super high-resolution video image, resulting in spectacular colour and movement like never before. With the original projector first used when located in the old Museum, this space sets the scene with a futuristic feel. A large data projector and screen makes the foyer an ideal space for product launches, awards ceremonies and special sit-down and cocktail events.
