Children's Gallery

The entire Children's Gallery is aimed at 3-8 year olds, and consists of three spaces: the Big Box exhibition gallery, The Learning Environment and the Tattersall's Children's Garden.

Big Box

Big Box houses the permanent exhibition 1, 2, 3, Grow, which encourages children to think about the different ways in which plants, humans and animals grow and change over the course of their lives. The story of growth unfolds through the themes of size, colour and form.

The exhibition enables children to make comparisons between themselves and objects on display by touching, looking and listening.

Learning Environment

The Learning Environment in the Children's Gallery is a special area designed to engage young children in a holistic/experiential manner. Children will have an open ended museum experience that engages all the senses, invokes imagination, enables experimentation and play and presents ideas and content with respect.

The Learning Environment focuses on a museum exhibition or display and this theme changes annually.

Tattersall's Children's Garden

In the Tattersall’s Children's Garden children and adults are encouraged to play together using traditional games such as quoits and hula hoops in the under cover playground, or they can relax and have fun in the spacious grassed area.
