To Mars and Beyond: Search for the Origins of Life

Past Event: 3 December 2002 to 27 April 2003

A once-in-a-lifetime journey to the darkest depths of our solar system.

The largest exhibition of space exploration ever seen in Australia, To Mars and Beyond brings together real and remarkable objects, models and interactive exhibits.

From ancient myths and dreamtime stories of Aboriginal Australia, via planets and satellites to the superpower space and futuristic International Space Station, this exhibition is a fascinating insight into human space exploration.

You can journey to Mars in a space ship, search for other life forms using SETI or zoom in to your own back garden using an Earth-orbiting satellite. Learn about scientific discoveries from Galileo, Newton and Congreve to recent innovations using real objects and models. See Australian astronaut Dr Andy Thomas’ spacesuit. Travel to Mars in a 3D virtual reality theatre.

Organised by Art Exhibitions Australia in association with the National Museum of Australia.
